Trineuron: logistics automotive industry
Electronics hardware designer
My first foray into the industry was for a project at Trineuron, a startup in the field of electrification of (smaller) logistical vehicles, such as forklifts.
I got to assist their electronics team in building out their own line of Battery Management Systems (BMS). Based on a preliminary design and my own experience in BMS software development, a first production ready version was designed.

Elaut: entertainment industry
Embedded engineer
At Elaut, a world leader in physical arcade games, I’ve had the privilege of working as an embedded engineer.
Starting with analyzing legacy hardware and embedded code for lifetime persistent errors; and finding low impact solutions. Such as creating a QT application for machine simulations through digital twinning, adjusting assembly coding and component replacement SOP.
Eventually moving on to taking on the embedded application development for an upgraded version of their flagship crane game, the E-Claw, and integrating their existing mechanical machine operations into video enhanced gameplay.
Assembly, C, C++, QT, Windows CE

OneSmartControl: smart doorbell
Embedded software engineer
As my first project at OneSmartControl, I got to work on their OneDoor project. A smart doorbell, integrating into the OneSmart home automation ecosystem.
My task was to create the Linux image, based on Android, for the custom build hardware: setting up the device tree, building the basic connectivity functionality and providing a OTA update framework.
Throughout this process, I’ve helped develop a number of hardware revisions.
Linux, C++, Android Studio, OpenCV

OneSmartControl: smart energy meter
Electronics engineer
Moving on to my second project at OneSmartControl, the OneEnergy.
I was tasked with scaling up the production of the OneEnergy and automating post-production testing, sensor calibration and product onboarding.
This involved building a test bed that integrated into the OneSmart ecosystem backend, coordinating production with an assembly partner company, and managing a testing rack for longer term hardware testing.
Python, MicroPython, SQL, Eagle

OneSmartControl: smart climate control
Embedded software engineer
The third project in undertook at OneSmartControl was for a new product they wanted to add to their line-up: the OneSense, a climate controller/sensor.
My work in this project was: setting up the programming tooling and debugging, the hardware access layer (HAL), basic connectivity to the OneSmart ecosystem and IR gesture sensor functionality.

Everythings: IoT solutions
CTO
Started as an idea incubated under the Xplore group, a division of Cronos N.V., Everythings adds IoT solutions to their existing cloud solutions offerings. Bridging the gap between client in the field processes and business operations through the use of various techniques, such as: IoT sensors, computer vision, machine learning, predictive maintenance, digital twins, …
As CTO, I strived to fundamentally understand the client's needs, taking into account user experience and existing workflow as well as all technological aspects. Then directing our team to building a client first solution.

Everythings: logistics operations digitalization
Senior electronics engineer
For a big player in port logistics, we got the opportunity to provide a solution to their stock management needs in their ~6000 container logistics centre.
With the continues going and coming of containers in the site, an in depth knowledge of the containers' location in the site was essential. Where it was mostly still done by visual inspection and spot checking, we sought to automate the process to improve reliability and added business value.
For this, we constructed a digital twin of the yard, where container locations were populated from IoT sensors in the field. These sensors consisted of pinpoint GPS tracking coupled with real time computer vision for container detection and serial number parsing. With them being integrated into their existing logistic vehicles, no impact to the existing operations was needed, while still having to add value.

Everythings: predictive maintenance
Senior electronics engineer
Another project we took on as Everythings was to create a bridge between older existing PLC installations and factory IT systems.
The need of the client was to be able to add predictive maintenance capabilities to existing +30-year-old machines that should be altered as minimal as possible.
For this we designed a multipurpose platform consisting of a core PCB build around an ESP32 with a PoE port, that can be coupled to a sensor PCB custom to the application, for instance with current sensing, 4-20mA HART protocol, RS-232, RS-485, … . This was build to fit into a standard 2 unit DIN-rail package, to easily fit into an existing power board to ease installation.
My tasks were the full circuit design, PCB production and embedded coding of the ESP32: OTA updates, device onboarding, sensor integrations, … .
